Mary’s passion for yoga has taken her from her home studios in Chicago to some of the top Yoga & Wellness destinations in Southeast Asia and India. Her diverse teaching & training experience reflects her philosophy that yoga should be accessible to everyone.
She is currently the Director of Yoga & Activities at Nihiwatu – a luxury wellness resort on Sumba Island, Indonesia. Prior to landing on a paradise island, Mary served as the Head Yoga Teacher at Hariharalaya Retreat Center situated in a traditional farming village of Cambodia. During that time, she taught retreats for hundreds of travelers from around the world focused on developing a lifelong yoga practice. She has also assisted multiple 200-hr Tantravaya Yoga Teacher Training Courses in Thailand.
Mary’s journey with yoga has been driven by her love of travel and meeting new people. She would be quick to tell you that despite the countless yoga workshops, trainings and ashram stays, she has gained just as much while savoring Chai with her good friend in India, testing her personal limits while trekking the Himalayas of Nepal, or losing herself in an ecstatic dance party in Bali.
Above all, she is a firm believer that yoga has something to offer everyone and encourages you to simply “come as you are”.
[ 2011 ] Linds + Hil first met as wide-eyed interns at Michigan Avenue Magazine where they both got their first taste of marketing and advertising. After a seriously fun summer of mastering media kits and organizing lavish industry events, they went their separate ways and remained friends. Over the next few years, they each went on to gain invaluable branding experience, but never felt quite at home in their professional settings.
[ 2014 ] After losing touch for awhile, the girls decided to reconnect over beers and fried chicken (naturally). Lindsey had just left her job to pursue photography full-time with her own venture, Eat Pray Photo, which covers the likes of love, lifestyle and culinary photography. Coincidentally, Hilary was preparing to put in her final notice at work and had enrolled in a yoga teacher training program, hoping to gain some insight on where to focus her energy while deepening her practice. Halfway through their first sip of Shark Meets Hipster it was decided that these two had to work together in some capacity. Their love for creativity and self-expression, paired with their unique marketing experiences and goofy personalities made for a ridiculously perfect match - and thus, Vibe Tribe Creative was born.
[ PRESENT DAY ] Two epic years later, 'The Tribe' has lived and learned what it means to risk it all in the name of passion, and experienced tremendous success in this realm, working alongside likeminded entrepreneurs, notable brands, and even a few celebrities. They genuinely believe everyone has the same opportunity to put dreams into action, and are dedicated to sharing and supporting those ready to make their next big leap!
